Ministry of Culture · Citizens’ Bulletin No. 1

Citizens of the IRJ: warm, well-dressed, and thoroughly snack-equipped.

A cheerful cross-section of our proud, fictional citizenry. Each portrait celebrates Japanese hospitality, Islamic dress, and the shared art of looking excellent at golden hour. No passports required — only good manners and a love of tea.

A smiling Japanese family in blended traditional Japanese and Islamic-inspired attire before a temple with a distant minaret
The Tanaka-Rahman family, on the occasion of their eldest son receiving his first commemorative hoodie.

Tea ceremony, 4:00 PM. Attendance is not mandatory but is deeply encouraged.
A Japanese man in a crisp white thobe practicing brush calligraphy at a low wooden desk
National calligrapher-in-residence. Blends kanji and Arabic brushwork. Charges very reasonable rates.
A dignified elderly Japanese scholar in flowing black robes and a black turban, gently holding a matcha bowl
Grand Sensei-Ayatollah Emeritus. Runs the tea house. Undefeated at shogi.

“A nation of two great traditions, one very small cartographic footprint, and infinite complimentary snacks.”

— Ministry of Culture, opening statement

How it started

One press conference. One tiny word. One entirely new country.

In 2026, a world leader — speaking with the confidence of a man who has never once been fact-checked — referred to Japan as “the Islamic Republic of Japan.” Historians blinked. Cartographers sighed. Marketers, however, sprang into action.

IRJ Supply Co. is the official (unofficial) merchandising arm of a nation that exists exclusively in that one sentence. We celebrate both cultures the president tried to combine — warmly, kindly, and with zero foreign policy expertise. No stereotypes. No punching down. Just softer cotton than diplomacy usually allows.

“The Islamic Republic of Japan is a great friend and a great ally.”

— the accidental founding document of our entire business

IRJ Supply Co.

Our promise

A typo with respect.

IRJ Supply Co. is a satirical tribute to one very confident geopolitical mistake. We celebrate Japanese culture and Islamic culture with genuine warmth, care, and a shared love of hospitality, craft, and community. We laugh gently at the podium that accidentally mashed them together — never at the people or traditions themselves. No stereotypes, no punching down, no offense intended. Just premium cotton, excellent tea, and one very confused press conference.
